April Showers Bring May Flowers

After discussing the famous saying, “April showers bring May flowers,” students were introduced to rainbows. We discussed why rainbows appear and the order of the colors of the rainbow. To celebrate the existence of rainbows we also read the story Somewhere Over the Rainbow. After listening to the story and discussing the pictures in the story, we listened to the song which is included in the book.

Finally, we made an art project! Students used small squares of colored construction paper to construct rainbows. Students glued the pieces to black construction paper to create contrast and show that rainbows appear in clouds of darkness.
