Common Core Math Centers

These math centers are SO MUCH FUN!

You get SIX centers to use with your kiddos throughout the year. They’re Common Core aligned and very interactive. Use them in rotations, save them for rainy days, or keep them open for early finishers. The options are limitless!

Here’s a glimpse at what you’ll WIN:

__Odd or Even?__

CCSS.Math.Content.2.OA.C.3 Determine whether a group of objects (up to 20) has an odd or even number of members, e.g., by pairing objects or counting them by 2s; write an equation to express an even number as a sum of two equal addends. Use this center to help your students practice their understanding of odd and even numbers. This is a fun sorting activity that will keep your kiddos engaged and learning!

__Elephant in the Room (Addition and Subtraction)__

CCSS.Math.Content.2.OA.B.2 Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies.2 By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.

This is a fun memory game to help your students practice their addition and subtraction facts through 20! But...they have to watch out for the elephant in the room!

__Three Digit Dance__

CCSS.Math.Content.2.NBT.A.1 Understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones; e.g., 706 equals 7 hundreds, 0 tens, and 6 ones.

CCSS.Math.Content.2.NBT.A.3 Read and write numbers to 1000 using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.

Students can practice their understanding of 3 digit numbers written in a variety of ways by using the fabulous sorting activity.

__Roll and Compare__

CCSS.Math.Content.2.NBT.A.4 Compare two three-digit numbers based on meanings of the hundreds, tens, and ones digits, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.

Students can use dice and their knowledge to compare two three-digit numbers, while practicing their base ten number skills.

__Draw the Shape__

CCSS.Math.Content.2.G.A.1 Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces.1 Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes.

Students can practice their drawing skills and listening skills to see if they have what it takes to draw the shape.
