What do I like to teach? It’s hard to pick just one thing
that I love to teach. I enjoy teaching my kiddos everything, but if I had to
narrow it down I would say anything in English Language Arts. More specifically,
I really enjoy teaching my students how to write. It’s so much fun to spark
their interest and see their imaginations take off in the form of writing.

The most important part of teaching writing is making sure
students understand the writing process. I created a writing center bulletin
board with a “writing process pencil” where students could track their

I also really enjoy conferencing with students about their
writing and teaching students how to “show and not tell” in their writing. I
created this FREE “Show, Don’t Tell” sort for students to practice. I enjoy
challenging my students to come up with more interesting ways to express their
ideas.

Publishing student writing is also something I enjoy. I am
always creating fun “writing craftivties” to display my students’ work.

One really awesome way I got my students engaged in the
writing process was publishing their work with Student Treasures: a super
awesome book making company. It’s completely FREE for teachers and students to
create. If parents want a copy of the book, they just pay a low price for a
copy of the class book. You even have the option to create digital books or
individual books for students to “treasure” forever!
